Victoria's solar PV and hot-water rebate program. The battery loan/rebate component has closed; PV and hot water rebates remain active but the household income cap tightened from 1 July 2026.

Solar PV rebate: up to $1,400. Hot water rebate: up to $1,000 (up to $1,400 for locally-made products), roughly 50% of cost. A separate, related Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) certificate discount can stack with the hot water rebate. Battery rebate/loan: closed, no current amount.
Solar Victoria administers rebates for solar panels (PV) and hot-water systems (including heat pump hot water) for eligible Victorian households, plus separate streams for rental properties, community housing and apartments.
Important 2026 change: the household combined taxable income eligibility cap dropped from $210,000 to $150,000 per year for applications submitted after 30 June 2026.
The solar battery rebate and interest-free loan component is closed — Solar Victoria is no longer accepting new battery loan applications. Households seeking a battery incentive should look at the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program instead.
Eligibility
Household combined taxable income under $150,000/year (from 1 July 2026; $210,000 cap applied to earlier applications). Property value under $3 million. Must use a Solar Victoria-authorised retailer and an approved product. No prior rebate claimed at the address. Hot water system being replaced must be at least 3 years old.
How to apply
Get a quote from a Solar Victoria-authorised retailer, apply via the Solar Victoria portal (service.vic.gov.au), then install within 120 days of approval and claim.
