Mass Save Heat Pump Rebates
One of the most generous heat pump rebate programs in the US, funded by Massachusetts utilities, with a much larger income-based tier for qualifying households.

Standard tiers: Whole-Home $2,650/ton (capped $8,500); Partial-Home $1,125/ton (capped $8,500); Basic $250/ton (capped $2,500). Income-based enhanced tier: up to $16,000 for air-source systems (up to $25,000 for ground-source), or no-cost via Turnkey Services for qualifying households — specific income thresholds are determined by an online eligibility tool.
Mass Save is funded by Massachusetts's major gas and electric utilities under state energy-efficiency program requirements, not a state agency directly. It pays tiered rebates for air-source heat pumps based on how much of the home's heating load the system covers (whole-home, partial-home or basic/supplemental), with a substantially larger income-based tier, including a "Turnkey Services" no-cost pathway, for qualifying households. Mass Save's own program page independently confirms the federal 25C and 25D tax credits expired at the end of 2025.
Eligibility
Massachusetts resident served by a participating utility. Install window for the current program year is 1 January to 31 December 2026, with claims due by 28 February 2027.
