Rebates & Incentives
Heat pump, solar, battery and EV charger programs by state — Australia and the USA. Every entry below is dated: we record when it was last checked against its official source, and flag anything getting stale, because these programs change every year.
🇦🇺Australia
- federalBatteryCheaper Home Batteries Program
A federal battery subsidy launched in 2025, using the same small-scale certificate mechanism as solar STCs but for home battery storage.
A percentage-based, point-of-sale discount off eligible battery installs (delivered via certificates the government buys at a fixed price) — check the official page for the current percentage and the battery capacity cap it applies to, as both are program parameters that can be revised.
- federalSolarSmall-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES / STCs)
Australia's long-running federal solar (and small-scale battery) subsidy, delivered as an upfront point-of-sale discount rather than a rebate you claim later.
Varies by system size, postcode zone rating and years remaining in the scheme — installers apply it as a discount at quote time. Certificates trade on a market with a $40 clearing-house cap price; there is no single fixed national dollar rebate figure.
- stateGeneralAustralian Capital TerritoryHome Energy Support Program (HESP)
A rebate covering half the cost of solar and heat pump upgrades for ACT concession-card holders, on top of the Sustainable Household Scheme loan.
Up to $2,500 (50% of cost) for solar, plus up to $2,500 (50% of cost) for heat-pump hot water, reverse-cycle heating/cooling or insulation — up to $5,000 total.

- federalGeneralHome Energy Rebates (HOMES + HEEHRA)
Federally funded (IRA) rebate programs administered state-by-state. Funding survived a 2025 legal fight but was materially narrowed by new DOE rules in mid-2026 — status varies a lot by state.
Varies by state and by whether HOMES or HEEHRA/HEAR — figures are set independently by each state energy office within federal program rules, not a single national rate.
